First Trip to the Mall!

Logan went to the mall today. He slept the whole time, but I think he enjoyed it! (Is it just me or does his hair have a reddish-tint to it? Classic Atchley-boy trait!)

I mentioned in my previous post that November is Adoption Awareness Month. Here are some common myths about adoption:

Myth -- There are no babies being placed for adoption in the US
Fact -- 20,000 or more US -born infants are placed for adoption each year

Myth
-- Adopting parents must wait five years or more for a baby
Fact -- The average wait in a domestic adoption is less than two years (true for us)

Myth
-- Birthparents can arrive at any time to reclaim their child
Fact -- Once an adoption is finalized, the adoptive family is recognized as the child's family by law

Myth
-- Birthmothers are all troubled teens
Fact -- Most birthmothers today are older than 18. In most cases, it's lack of resources that cause them to place their children for adoption

Myth
-- Adoptees are all maladjusted
Fact -- Studies show that adoptees are as well adjusted as their non-adopted peers
