7 Months Old!!!

Logan is 7 months old today!!! He now has a third tooth. It's on the top, but it's not one of the front middle ones, it's the second one on the left. We're just waiting for the other side to come in and then he will look like a vampire (hey, he's just jumping on the "Twilight" bandwagon -- isn't that what everyone is talking about?!?)

He still continues to do his physical therapy every week. He's doing great and has so much fun on his exercise ball. Tonight, he was so tired after therapy. Right after it was over, I fed him supper. He made it through the vegetables, but in the middle on his fruit, he started falling asleep - while in his high-chair -- while eating!! It was too cute. He's been asleep since about 5:30 and it's now past 9:30. I'm hoping he doesn't get all mixed up and wake up in the middle of the night!

And for those of you interested in seeing Zeb's hand....it actually looks better than it did previously. He was able to go to work today. I personally can't wait for it to be healed so he can start doing his "chores" again.

Sunday Snapshots

I love the last picture. He looks so mad at me.

All is well in the Johnston household. Zeb's hand is doing well. Hope you all have a good week!

Logan's Adoption Celebration

Did you know that boiling water kills thistles? It does. It is much cheaper and pet-friendly than pesticides. Most people don't know that. Do you know how I know most people don't know that? Because we told a bunch of people about it today, and they told me that they didn't know that. But wait...let me start from the beginning.

We had a party planned for this afternoon. It was a party to celebrate the finalization of Logan's adoption. Around 1:00 p.m., Zeb was taking some boiling water out front to pour over the thistles. He told me to take Charlie out back, so that Charlie wouldn't be crying out the front door to go outside (Logan was napping at the time). As Zeb was walking out the front door, I gust of wind came and knocked the door back, which in turn, made him drop the boiling water all over his left hand. After he jumped back into the screen door (completely demolishing it), he ran into the kitchen and started putting cold water on it. While I was out back, I heard him screaming my name. I ran inside to find him in excrutiating pain. The next 3 1/2 hours were made up of a trip to Redi-Med then a trip to the hospital to visit the burn unit and we finally arrived home about an hour after the party was scheduled to start. Fortunately, it was mostly family attending and they were gracious enough to adjust their schedules and arrive later. As a matter of fact, they all pitched in and helped with food and helped with Logan and whatever else needed done and the party was a great success. Zeb's left hand is covered in mostly first-degree burns, some second degree...the burn covered his whole hand past the wrist. There is one spot on his right hand that got hit. He has to go back to the doctor this week.

But, let me tell you what a good little boy we have. He woke up at his normal time this morning...well, he actually slept in a little bit, but he ate breakfast at 6:30 a.m. He & I went to a ladies' meeting at the church and Zeb worked this morning. Logan fell asleep on our way home from church and slept until the whole boiling water incident. Once we were at Redi-Med, Logan took a bottle and was so good the whole time. He would babble to the doctor and nurses and he was just content to play and read books. After we got the hospital, we had to sit some more and Logan was just goin'-with-the-flow. He took another bottle there, but was clearly getting hungry. In the end, he didn't eat actual food until 5:30 p.m......that's about 11 hours. How many of us ever go 11 hours without eating and not get cranky? That's my boy. I know that the formula supplemented, but com'on....that's pretty good of him...to be happy the whole time!!!!

Even though it was a quite a day, it's definitely going to make the story of Logan's party much more interesting when we tell him about it when he's older. We were so excited to celebrate the finalization of Logan's adoption with our family. So, without futher ado, here are the pictures from the party.

And now....our precious boy is fast asleep for the night...Sleep tight, Logan. We love you soooooo much!

The Many Faces of Logan

Have I mentioned lately that I love EVERY single minute of being Logan's mommy? Well, I do.

At the babysitter's house, Logan often sits in an Exersaucer (like his Jumperoo), and it has a mirror on it. Today, when I went to pick him up, he was kissing himself in the mirror. Well, it was probably more like he was just licking the mirror, but when Miss Carma asked him if he was kissing himself, he got this silly grin on his face like, "you caught me!" What can I say -- the boy loves to give kisses!!!

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, so I apologize if it's a repeat story, but I wanted to document it because it cracks me up. At church, we have been doing a study that is based on the movie "Fireproof." We meet every-other Thursday night. Logan sits with us, as he's too young yet to be with the other little children. He LOVES to look at our study book. But what is so entertaining is every time we turn the page (keep in mind, this book is mostly study questions...very few pictures...), he laughs...like he reads something funny on every page. I don't know why I find that so funny, but it's just one of the many little things that we love about him.

Hope you all enjoy the weekend. I'm praying for nice weather!!!

VERY Special Day

We received Logan's birth certificate in the mail today. I showed it to him while he was eating his supper and he was clearly excited. We are, too.

29 Weeks

As you can see in the last picture, Logan is getting on his knees more and more and he's started rocking a little bit. It's so much fun every day to just see how he changes and the different things he is learning.

A couple things I just have to mention. The other day in church service, right during communion (the quietest time during the service), Logan let out a huge burp. I was so embarrassed. The first of many things my child will do to embarrass me during church, I'm sure! Everyone heard it and we got a few comments afterwards..."was that Logan?" "Yes, that's my boy."

When we went for his check-up last week, the doctor gave us a "checklist" of different things that six month olds should (or would) be doing. One of the items was "social cough for attention." That made me laugh. How silly! Well, Logan must have heard me telling others about it, because since then, he's been working overtime to perfect his social cough. It is so funny. He usually extends a real cough, but sometimes, it is so obviously fake. I probably don't help matters when he does it, because I will say, "Oh, my poor little baby," and then he starts to laugh. Each day, we see more and more of his personality, and I gotta say, he's a pretty cool little man.

Youth Rally, Zoo and a Sippy Cup

Logan went to his first youth rally at the church today. Our church participates in a group of several churches that has a youth rally every month during the school year. This month, it was at our church. We just stayed for the morning portion, as we had other things we wanted to get done....

Logan took his first trip to the zoo! What a fun, fun day for us. I love the zoo. I have always loved taking my nieces and nephews to the zoo. It's one of my favorite places. Although I'm not sure Logan gets the point of the zoo, he certainly was content riding around in his stroller. I've attached several pictures. I hope you don't mind.

Getting ready to head into the zoo...excited!!!

Let's check out the map and see where we should go first!

Logan and mommy enjoying our time with the animals.

Let's stop for a rest and take a drink of water.

Whose hillbilly child is that with no shoes or socks?

"I'm getting a little tired, I think I'll just prop my foot up here and rest."

"Mom is going to take my picture by this silly thing every time we come to the zoo. Get used to it. I was trying to pose just like this big monkey."

Logan stayed awake about an hour and a half and then he was out of it.

Daddy picked out this shirt to commemorate Logan's first visit to the zoo.

Later in the day, Logan tried out his first sippy cup. He's growing up so fast! (I think this is the first picture where you can actually see his little teeth!)

What a wonderful day!!!! Thank you, God, for the wonderful joys of childhood!!!!

Logan & Elliana

Logan & Elliana got some play time in tonight. I was so worried that he was going to roll over on top of her or something. She seems so little compared to him! However, he was suprisingly gentle...and very interested in watching her. We were able to snap a few pictures before she drifted back to sleep. I think they are going to have lots of fun playing together in the future!!!

Logan had his six month check-up and shots today. He is 18 lbs. 4 oz. (70%) and he is 28 1/4 in. (95%). He didn't even cry with the first shot, but the second and third...well, let's just say he was hurting!

We were able to take a walk this evening after work (me, Logan & Charlie). And this little boy, probably about 8 or 9, with red hair, stopped us and asked if he could pet Charlie. (I love that little kids ask if they can pet Charlie -- so many of them ask permission, which I think is really nice.) "Cute dog," he said. Then he looked at Logan, "Is this your son?" "Yes," I answered proudly -- I love that he is MY son! "He's cute," he said. As I finished my walk, I thought, I hope Logan is that kind when he is that age. Lord, help us teach our son to be a blessing to others.

Six Month Pictures

My baby is six months old....and here are the pictures to prove it...doesn't he look so big?! I wanted to scan all of them in, but there are other things I must get done, so here are a few of our favorites...who am I kidding...we love them all....
