So Cute

Sometimes, I have to restrain myself from gushing about how incredibly adorable I think my son is. But today, no restraint. And I'm not going to apologize either. He's just so absolutely, unbelievably cute that I want to go on and on about it. But I'll let the pictures do the talking. And since I'm not going to apologize for thinking he's adorable and amazing, if you don't agree then click to another blog. No haters here. Let a mommy be in love for a while....(or forever...)....



















Zeb and Logan just finished watching the movie "Rudy," so Zeb had to show Logan what it would be like if he plays for Notre Dame some day like Rudy did. Logan enjoyed being carried on daddy's shoulder.

One of my favorite things about the weekend is nap time. I laid down with Logan this afternoon, and he didn't want to take a nap. So, he wrapped the blanket around his shoulders (not over his head) and would say "Boo!" (He thought he was hiding.) And then he would say "tickle, tickle, tickle," and tried to tickle me on the neck. It was so hard to keep a straight face and be serious and say, "It's nap time." He finally got tired and went to sleep, but as he was playing around, I just thought, "I wish I could write down every single thing he does...or better yet, record it." Oh, how I love these moments with him. So, so, so cute.

16 Months

Logan decided that 16 months was long enough for him to go with his wonderfully smooth, beautifully perfect forhead skin. He had an accident today:






It was harder on me than it was on him! He fell on his toy box. I almost passed out when it started bleeding. Oh my.


I think Logan is ready for school. He loves his backpack.




On Tuesday, Logan's grandma watched him at our house, so he got to stay in his pj's all day...isn't that fun? I wish I could stay in my pj's all day...






And look whose hair is getting very long!

I spent most of today working on our next adoption profile. In order for birth mothers to consider us, we create a notebook containing a letter and pictures of us so that the birth mothers can look through and choose a family. That is how Logan's birth mother chose us to be his parents, so obviously, I take this very seriously. I have been praying about it all week, and I was printing and arranging the pictures today, I just prayed that our next birth mother will be led to us through our profile and she will see how happy adding another child to our family would make all of us! It's one of the most difficult things to do because you want to choose pictures and words that will represent you as a family -- not something make-believe or seemingly perfect...but I just tried to represent the happiness in our home and especially how happy being Logan's parents has made us. We feel that adding another child to our home would just add more joy!

As soon as I get these profiles bound, we will deliver them to the agency and officially be on the waiting list again. Some adoptive couples call it "paper pregnant." I made 4 profiles (all the same) -- 3 to take to the agency and 1 for us to keep. We take 3 because sometimes a birth mother will consider a family but then not choose them and never return the profile (it doesn't happen a lot, but it does happen), so I didn't want to have to make any at a later date.

So, we just ask that you pray with us. As I've mentioned before, we waited 20 months for Logan, so you never know...could be a shorter wait, could be a longer wait. We are ready anytime and we know that the Lord is in complete control!

Good Day

We had a good day. No, a great day, I'd say. But every day with Logan is a great day.

I was thinking about all of the new and different things that he's doing lately, and I realized that those who don't get to see him on a consistent basis might be interested in some of the fun things he does, so this is for you!

• Yesterday, he started "winking." That is, when you'd wink at him, he'd blink both of his eyes and/or bat his eyes. OH. MY. It was so adorable. He'd only do it a couple times today, even though I requested it several times. I'm hoping the winks come back soon.
• He is constantly on the move. When he's not sleeping, he wants to walk all over the house. He really likes to play in our spare bedroom, especially opening and closing the door (yes, we are very careful that he doesn't pinch his fingers!), and playing the piano.
• Today, he tried to say "Applebees" and "Bill" (for Grandpa Bill). He also says "a" at the end of the "Activia" song...you know you've heard it (the yogurt commercial).
• He still loves his books.
• He does NOT like for his blocks to be picked up. They are in a container with a lid and the first thing he always goes for when his toys are all picked up are those blocks. He takes the lid off, dumps them out and then moves onto something else. We're still trying to teach him to pick things up...why is it that a child learns to make a mess before he learns to clean it up? Why didn't God make us so that we instinctively want to pick things up, not dump them out?!
• He is still a pretty good eater although this past week, we witnessed the unusual "no" and shaking of the head when we tried to feed him a couple times. He'll be downing his sweet potatoes and then all of he sudden, he's like, "no, no" and shakes his head and he's done.
• He loves to say, "no, no Char" (or Ch or Cha -- for Charlie) when Charlie whines (which he does when Logan is being fed and Charlie is not! They are going to be great friends come spring time, I believe!

That's about it for now, if I think of other things, I'll try to report those. Most of all, I just want everyone to know that Logan remains such an amazing blessing. We love him with all of our hearts. And every day gets better and better. He brings us so much joy!

Guess What Logan Likes

I try to make wise choices for Logan's food. I'm not saying I'm perfect. He eats cookies and sweets and french fries -- occassionally. (And I eat those thing A LOT.) But today, I just wanted him to experience some kid food. So, there you have it. Logan loves spaghetti O's from a can.

And while I'm confessing, I should admit that I took Logan to the bank today and while we were waiting, he wanted to get down. So, I grabbed a sucker from their little container and gave it to him thinking that he would just look at it. It took about a half of a second for him to remove the wrapper and stick that thing in his mouth! I let him have about 20 or so licks while we waited. Since I was holding the sucker, he suddenly became content not getting down. I'll have to remember that one.

Piano Man

Yes, he was sitting on the bench all by himself. And yes, he did slide right off as soon as I took the picture!

Tonight

Logan is becoming such a little boy...tonight, we were playing in our spare bedroom. Logan and Zeb stayed inside the bedroom and I went outside the door, closed it and knocked. Logan tried to open the door, so I helped and opened it, but he thought it was so funny. Then, I walked back out, closed the door and knocked again. We did this about 20 times and he still wasn't tired of it.

I just thought it was so adorable that he's getting to the point where he actually plays. We were all at home this evening and had a wonderful time playing together. Oh, how I love this little boy!

Working Mom's Guilt

Today was the first day of the new semester. I was not there. Logan was sick and we couldn't find anyone to watch him, so I had to stay home. Don't get me wrong...I want to be here when he is sick. Just not today! I feel so guilty about staying home today. But I'm sure I would have felt guilty if I went to work. So, what to do? I know I did the right thing. Logan's croup cough has now turned into a regular cough and he's eating well and doesn't have a fever. I know he's on the mend. So, why do I still feel guilty?

Please tell me I'm not the only working mom to feel this way.
