Sick

I get embarrassed when I have to admit that Logan is sick. I feel like a bad mom...like my house is full of germs or I didn't dress him properly or I didn't do something right. But alas, I must admit, he is sick again.

Zeb has bronchitis (this is not my fault) and all that entails. I have a fever, cough and I ache all over! Logan has double ear infections, a runny nose, fever and I'm guessing he has a sore throat because it sounds like it when he talks/coughs. He is in wonderful spirits though. But he did take a 5 hour nap today! I probably would have gotten a lot done if I was feeling better, but no such luck.

Both boys have gone to the doctor, but I have been resisting. I am fighting this (not doing great at it though).

I guess my biggest fear is that we will have to go through what we did last fall with Logan's hospital stays. I also worry about giving him too many antibiotics, seeing as how I'm pretty sure I was 31before I took my first antibiotic (which I was allergic to)!

I feel guilty about not going to work; I would feel guilty about going to work. I feel bad because the house work piles up when we're sick, but not bad enough to get off the couch! I feel guilty because I actually enjoy the snuggle time with Logan.

Is this normal? People that know me say that I need to get over the "guilty" feeling (on basically all points in my life), but it's how I've always been. So, on top of everyone in our house being sick, there's a cloud of guilt hanging over it, as well.

So, we appreciate your prayers for a speedy recover for all of us -- and also pray we didn't spread it to all of the family member/coworkers we've been around the past few days!

Saturday

I have not found the card reader, but we broke down and bought a new one. I couldn't bear the thought of weeks going by without documenting Logan's happenings.

Like this, I mean, flips with Aunt Rachael...gotta be documented.

And of course, kisses.

Grandpa, Grandma and Aunt Rachael all said they stopped by to see the new floor, but I'm guessing they actually came to see Logan, and the floor, well, that was just a bonus!! He just laughed and laughed as Rachael chased him around the living room. And as soon as everyone left, we put him in the tub and after his bath, he was asleep in about 1 minute...but not before I snapped another picture!
He has an awful cold. I just hate when he is sick. But he's still in good spirits, so that makes it easier.

Up To

We have been so busy (what's new, right?!). I am teaching 2 online courses (both almost ending, so loaded with assignments that I've been grading), teaching 4 piano lessons a week, Zeb is in his last class for his bachelor's degree (requiring in-depth assignments each week -- it's the Senior-level, capstone course), and Zeb has had to work a few late nights and a Saturday with his new job (which he still loves, by the way!). We are sealing the grout on the tile, cleaning out the garage, cleaning out the house and painting the kitchen. It seems we are always going!!

We are playing outside every spare minute we get. Logan loves "side," as he calls it. He is particularly interested in the door, although he never wants to come back inside. He just likes to mess with the door when he's outside.

Charlie is also loving the weather. He will often spend 30 - 45 minutes at a time outside in the evening. We are all enjoying as many walks as we can fit into our schedule.

I know I haven't posted many pictures this week. I realized tonight that I have misplaced the card reader to transfer the pictures from the camera onto the blog. I had to download all 2400 pictures from the card to the computer tonight so that I could do this post. Needless to say, I won't be posting much until I find that card reader!

So, here are some of the pictures I've been taking over the past week...even though I haven't been posting, I've still been snapping pictures!I am loving his smile

He is loving his race track

We all love being silly

I am loving how grown-up his baseball hat makes him look

He is loving his hand-me-down bike (from his cousins)

He is loving smelling "flowers" outside
I am loving how long his hair is getting in the back

He is loving making daddy smell the "flowers"

He is loving playing on the mound we have in the back yard

Everyone is loving the time outside

He is loving his slide

I am loving how Logan has his mama's eyes

I am loving his orange-striped onesie and his hair

I am LOVING these pjs that Aunt Rachael gave him for Christmas. I am seriously so in love with this pair, I've considered getting his pictures taken professionally in them...would that be wrong?!

Things We Say

(I know this hat is too small for him, but he wore it last summer and it's made an appearance a couple days ago. And it's so cute! He wore it during our walk tonight and would yell when it would blow off of his head.)
Today, I said:

"Don't put the baby in the applesauce."
(referring to a picture that Logan likes to carry of himself -- and he points to it and says "baby"...he was putting it in his applesauce tonight during supper)

"Stop peeing!"
(as I was getting Logan's diaper ready to put on him after his bath)

"Don't eat the rocks."
(that one is obvious)

Isn't it funny...the things we say to our children? What strange things have you found yourself saying?

Confession

I held Logan until he went to sleep this evening. And I'm not one bit sorry I did.

Pink Eye and Ear Infections

( As you can see, the paci is back...actually, Zeb gave it to him in the middle of that first night without it....it's just not a battle I'm prepared to fight at this point.)

Poor baby has pink eye and an ear infection in both ears. This morning when he woke up, his eyes were matted shut. Do you remember that episode of "Little House on the Prairie" when Mary wakes up and can't see? THAT was one of my biggest fears growing up...that episode haunted me forever. I still wake up some mornings in a panic, wondering if today will be the day I lose my sight....but enough about me. So, Logan woke up and he couldn't open his eyes. We immediately wiped them with a warm cloth and he was able to open them. He didn't panic or cry one bit. Obviously, he's never seen that episode of Little House.

So, thinking that maybe it was allergies, we went ahead and got ready and I took him to the babysitter. One of the many things I love about her is that she's been doing this for years and she knows what is what in the way of children's ailments. She wouldn't let him stay, as we suspected, because she knew it was pink eye.

I took him to the doctor and was surprised to learn that in addition to the pink eye, he also has an ear infection in both ears. What a trooper he is! We stayed together all day and he really wasn't even that cranky, considering everything that is wrong with him.

Logan was very affectionate today, being sure to rub his eyes and face all over my eyes and face...I don't think he's ever wanted to love on me so much as he did today.Of course, I have been checking the mirror all day long to see if my eyes are getting red and I swear they've been itching like crazy :) But if I end up with pink eye, it was worth it for all the snuggling I got today.

I did get the opportunity to teach Logan how to march today....one of the best parts of the day. He loved it. I loved it. We will be marching a lot, I'm sure.

Sunday

Logan is getting so much better at eating at restaurants. It's actually an enjoyable experience sometimes! I forgot to mention that this past week, he went to McDonald's for the first time. His daddy and I had been through the drive-through since Logan has been born, but Logan had never eaten there. He loved it! He ate part of a cheeseburger and a parfait. This picture is from lunch today...not at McDonald's :) Zeb does this thing where he makes a fist and asked Logan "Do you want a piece of this?" (You can see Zeb's fist in the right of the picture), and Logan will shake his head and say "No." Here he is showing us how strong he is. Today, he made a fist, looked at me and said, "This?" I said, "no."

He's on the move so much these days, it's difficult to get a good picture...but this one...this one, I love!

Logan loves the new floor. He especially loves that we haven't moved the table back into the dining area. He has started this loud "oooohhhhh" sound when he gets excited (he does this in the kitchen). It's very cute and entertaining. But it wasn't so cute when he did that tonight in church as I was walking him back from the nursery.

Today, Charlie was scratching at the door and Logan was trying to open the door to let him back in...it won't be long! And we are really going to appreciate that help!

The next one is another good one from today. Notice his shirt says "Mama's Boy." When he calls for me these days, it's "mama, mama." And he says that so much...sometimes even when he's not really calling for me. But I never get tired of hearing that precious word!

Here he is doing his "oooooohhhhh"...did I mention that sometimes he throws his body into it? (see how his stomach is sticking out, head back...that's the "ooooohhhh" move.)

He's had gunky (is that a word?) stuff in his eyes all day. I'm hoping he doesn't have allergies. Poor little guy.

We pray you all have a blessed week!

Let's Catch Up, Shall We?

Logan dressed like his daddy today.
Logan investigated rocks on Tuesday.

Logan looked for eggs on Sunday.

Logan played "school" on Sunday.

Logan played outside a lot this past week!

Logan watched "Shrek" on Sunday morning while
I was trying to take his picture in his Easter outfit.

Logan looked awfully cute in his new pjs.

Logan enjoyed a couple walks this past week.

This was our kitchen floor at the beginning of the week....

And this is the kitchen floor now!

We had saved money to go to Mackinac Island over Memorial Day, but we decided to take that money and buy a new kitchen floor instead! We think we made a good choice!
And Charles stayed at Grandma's this week while the floor was being redone. He likes going to Grandma's, but we sure missed him!
