Double the Fun!

Thank you, Russell and Dalton, for Logan's festive onesies. And then, after an exhausting day....

At 2:23 this morning, Logan started REALLY smiling for mommy. He's been smiling for a while, but it's never been in response to us. So, this morning, as I was so tired during one of his feedings, I was talking to him and he started smiling. And then, he did it again. I was so excited, I had to wake daddy up once I put Logan back to bed! He smiled several times throughout the day, mostly when I say his name!

Also, he's eating (what feels like) all the time, so I gave him some cereal this morning. Yes, he ate it right from a spoon -- like a pro...Like he's been doing this his whole life. Of course, it was really thin and I only fed him a little at a time, but we're going to try some more tonight before bed (and praying that he doesn't wake up every two hours during the night to eat). We can't believe he's eating cereal already, but he is a hungry, hungry and growing boy! We need to keep him happy and healthy so that he can start playing football soon.

Our baby is one month old today!

Say "Goodbye...."

....to newborn-size clothes! I got Logan dressed for Bible study, and as you can see, he's a little too big for his newborn clothes. (Don't worry, I changed him to more appropriate-fitting clothing before we left.) Guess we'll pack these away for our next little boy!

4 weeks old

I can't believe it was 4 weeks ago that Logan was born. Life is so much better with him in it! We love him so much...so much more than we even thought we could.

Thank you, God, for blessing us with Logan David.

Just A Swingin'

Daddy put together the swing tonight. As you can see, it's great!!

Sunday Best

The outfit is a little too big, but I just can't spend any more money on newborn clothes when I know that he won't be able to wear them very much longer. He's too long for newborn, but the 3 month clothes are a little too big. It's hard to find in-between.

Too big or not, I thought this little sweater vest was absolutely adorable.

Finally!

Finally, there is someone who likes to hear me sing! Yes, Logan loves to listen to mommy sing, and mommy loves singing to Logan. It's one of the special things that bond us. I just know we're going to sing many, many songs together.

I always sing about Jesus and his favorite song (and mine) is "In Christ Alone."
"From life's first cry, to final breath...Jesus commands my destiny."

Bath Time

This wasn't Logan's first bath, of course, but it was his first time using this adorable towel, so I just had to snap a picture.

3 weeks old

Logan is 3 weeks old today!!

Remember last night, how Logan was still asleep at my 11:50 post? Well, he slept until 3:45 a.m....yes, that's right, our big boy slept for 6 hours and 45 minutes! He was in his car seat when we arrived home from celebrating Grandpa McKinley's birthday and I left him in there until he woke up. He stirred a few times, and then at 3:45, I couldn't take it anymore, so when he stirred, I picked him up. I bet he would have slept longer. Mama, however, didn't get much sleep at all because I kept checking on him every 15 minutes to make sure he was okay.
These past 3 weeks have been the best of our lives. We are so thrilled to be Logan's parents. Although we are tired and the house is a mess, we have never been happier. We continue to thank God daily for blessing us with Logan.

Sleep for four hours at a time????!!!

Yes, it's true, Logan does sleep for four hours at a time. Unfortunately, this only happens when he is snug in his car seat. This evening was the third time he's done this. I just can't bring myself to put him in there overnight, so this just happens when we happen to be out for the evening and he falls asleep in his car seat in the evening.

So now, it's 11:50 p.m., and I wait for him to wake up, then I'll feed him, he'll go back to sleep, I'll put him in the bassinet and he'll be up to eat again 2 hours later! And I really do love every single minute of being Logan's mom!

9.5 pounds!

Mom weighed me tonight and I now weigh 9.5 pounds! I've gained 2 pounds since I was born. Also, the first outfit that I wore to church had to have the legs rolled up...guess what...I wore it today, and it was almost too short. I probably won't be wearing that outfit again.

Mommy is a little sad that I'm growing up so fast already.

Changing Every Day

I found out that if I turn on the mobile on Logan's bassinet, I can get a perfect view of his face for pictures!
As I write this, Logan's great grandparents are on their way to Indiana from Alabama, along with Aunt Donna and cousins, Russell and Dalton. They are making the long trip just to meet this little guy (I can guarantee they will NOT be disappointed!). This is a special event because when I first met Zeb, he described Nanny as his favorite person, so I know that he is excited beyond words to be the proud daddy and introduce his son to his grandparents. It's going to be a special day.
Logan is such a good baby. I couldn't ask for a better one, but I'm really starting to feel tired. The past two evenings, he has slept for several hours, but during the night, he's up every 2 - 2 1/2 hours. I love that little guy so much, it's totally worth the exhaustion that I feel!

2 weeks old

Nanny, Papa, Aunt Donna, Russell and Dalton better hurry up and get here -- I'm changing every day!

Special thanks to Aunt Michelle for the outfit Logan's wearing...I couldn't wait to take his picture in it, but it was quite a chore posing him so all the words would show. (It glows in the dark, but I figured you'd rather see Logan's face than the mummy's face!)

New Week

Well, Zeb is back at work today. I know it was hard for him to return. I love being mom and staying at home with the little guy. I am looking forward to the mother/son bonding that we will get to do over the next 7 weeks. But we do miss daddy! We're going to have lunch ready for him everyday when he comes home to see us during his lunch break.

We have a very busy week with a revival at church, and we're so excited about the arrival of Auntie Sam from Chicago who's coming on Friday! She's coming in for the weekend, and she's been super excited about Logan, so I can't wait for them to meet!

Best Friends

Charlie is a good protector of Logan. I just know they are going to be best friends!

1 week old

Logan is doing great! He is 1 week old today. He is opening his eyes more, staying awake longer and sleeping longer during the night. He is such a good baby!
We love every minute. Zeb is off work the whole week (I'm off for 8 weeks), so we are getting quite a routine going. Zeb is a great help with preparing bottles, feeding and burping Logan and helping with household duties. He has not, however, changed a diaper yet! How long can this go on???!!!
We have not stopped praising the Lord for the blessing that Logan is in our lives. We marvel everyday, still, for the way things have worked out.
Is it just me, or is he already starting to change looks?

Busy Day!

Logan writes -- We had a very busy day! Grandma Doris came over this morning to help dad watch me while mom was at the dentist. Then, mom and dad took me to dad's work to show me off. Everyone said, "he's so cute."

Then, we went to the lawyer's office, where mom and dad signed their names to papers saying that they wanted to adopt me. We will have to wait a few months until the judge says it's all final. The laywer said, "he's so cute."

After that, we took mom out for lunch because it's her birthday. I slept the whole time though, but I did hear the waitress say, "he's so cute."

Later in the day, I went to my first doctor's appointment. He said that I gained 5 ounces. I don't know if that's a lot, but mommy was happy. All the nurses said, "he's so cute."

After I ate supper, Grandpa and Grandma Atchley came over. Mommy wanted to get my hand prints and foot prints for a frame to hang in my room. I really didn't like this, and after a lot of tries, they ended up only getting the feet. I just wanted to sleep. Daddy took some pictures of the whole fiasco. I heard Grandpa and Grandma say, "he's so cute."

My neck is getting stronger every day and I am trying to hold my head up. I can't believe that I'll be one week old tomorrow -- time sure does fly!

First Sunday

We are a happy, happy family. I don't believe I've experienced such joy as holding our dear little one in my arms during the church service (okay, I was in the nursery tending to him most of the service, but it was nice to be there.)

Everyone at the church has prayed so much for our situation, so it was a day of great joy to be shared with our Christian friends.

We're Home!

"I prayed for this child and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him. So, now, I give him to the Lord, for his whole life, he will be given over to the Lord." I Samuel 1:27 & 28

More photos

I've spent way too much time this morning on Flickr, the photo-downloading website, trying to learn how to arrange photos in a more creative fashion, but so far, no luck. I need to get ready now, to go see the little guy, so this is all I could do right now.

Born: September 30, 2008 at 8:41 p.m.
Weight: 7 lbs. 8 oz.

We are so happy! But very tired right now. He's coming home tomorrow night after 9:00 p.m. because he has to be in the hospital for at least 48 hours. We are loving every minute and can't wait to bring him home.
