7 1/2

He's 7 1/2 today.  My boy.  My joy.  My life.  I love him more everyday and I cannot believe God picked me to be his mama.  In the grand-scheme of the world, it's pretty amazing.  If I didn't already believe in God, I'd have no choice after this little boy was brought into our lives.

Celebrating the Resurrection

We had a good weekend.  I was sick on Saturday, so we had to cancel those plans.  But later in the evening, I was feeling well enough to color eggs!

On Sunday, two of our students went to church with us and then we all had lunch at my brother's house.  Of course, there was an egg hunt.

I will post more pics in another post!  This one is getting long!!!

Lately.

Last Thursday night, I was home alone, which is a miracle, and I cut the tip of my thumb! It was quite painful, but it's healing.

On Friday night, Logan had a school carnival.  He had so much fun.

A sweet junior high girl gave Logan four goldfish that she won.  He was so excited and said "she has the heart of God" for giving the fish to him.

On Saturday morning, he had his last basketball game for this season.  He has definitely come a long way since he started!

To Remember

Last week, Logan said to Zeb and me:  Why do you guys fight so much?

I found this kind of hilarious because we really don't.  (If we did, I wouldn't be comfortable writing about it!)

So, I asked him:  What do you mean?  When do we fight?

Logan:  Well, last night you were fighting.

Me:  Really?  Because you were at grandma's last night.

Logan:  well, I'm pretty sure you guys were fighting.

Me: what were we fighting about?

Logan:  (as serious as can be) you were fighting about whose shampoo is better.

Zeb is bald. Case closed.

When Dad's Away

So, Zeb had to travel for work tonight.  He doesn't like pancakes and bacon has too much sodium for him.  Since he was gone tonight, we had pancakes and bacon for supper!!  Before I knew what was going on, Logan had helped himself to the syrup.
But he ate really well tonight ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€
After supper, Nacho and Logan played with kinetic sand.

We've had a good evening, but we sure miss Daddy!!!

Saturday

We had a busy Saturday!!!

Logan had a basketball game this morning.

And then after the game, we went to see the movie Zootopia.  We loved it!!

After that, we came home and took a nap.  Well, the adults took naps.  Logan stayed awake!

In the evening, Charlie got a haircut and then we had supper and worked on homework.  I love Saturdays!!!

"Eye" Love Him

Logan has had glasses for a couple years now.  His vision is fine, he just has trouble with his eyes wanting to go in different directions.
His teacher met with us and expressed some concerns about his work.  She said he's super smart, but something just isn't clicking.   She suggested we have his eyes evaluated more in-depth.
So, last Monday, we spent over an hour with him getting tested.  It was long and tedious for a seven year old little boy. Turns out, he has little-to-no depth perception.  His eyes both work, but not together.  The doctor said that its like he's always carrying around a 5 pound weight.  And when you ask him to read or concentrate, it's like adding another 5 pound weight.  Poor boy.
It makes me feel bad for how hard things must be for him. It explains why he doesn't find it very easy to do things like catch a ball! He was so exhausted that he fell asleep on the way home.  We will go back in two weeks for further testing and a plan of action.

Saying Goodbye

Last night, we said "goodbye" to our first international student.  It was much harder than I thought it would be, emotionally.  We opened our home and our hearts not knowing what to expect, but we have been so blessed on this journey.
For the past few days, we've had 3 students in our home.  On Sunday at lunch, we all sat around the table and had a meal together.  My heart was full.

I like to think that we are helping the students - giving them a safe place to live and a family environment.  But the truth is, they are giving us so much more!  The joy that they bring into our family is something that we will always carry with us.  And our family around the world just continues to grow and grow.  What a blessing!!
