3 1/2 Years

Oh. My. He is 3 1/2 today. My little baby. My boy. He's growing up. I love him. He was NOT interested in getting his picture taken. He was much more interested in watching "Mike the Knight."

And eating popcorn.

And I included this next one just for fun. Because one day, he's going to say, "Why did you take that picture of me?" and I'm going to tell him that it's because I tried for 5 minutes to get a good picture and he wouldn't cooperate. I love you, 3 1/2 year old Logan!!!

Logan is seriously the sweetest little boy. He is very concerned about Zeb and my well-being. Zeb hurt his knee at work this week. Logan is constantly asking him if his knee is okay. This morning as we were leaving, he yelled to Zeb,"Be careful you don't hurt your other knee."

"Surely" has become one of his favorite words. This morning, he said, "Surely the sun is going to come out today."

Logan's little friend, Isabella, has been out of school for a while (her dad died). She returned yesterday. I asked Logan what they did and he said, "We just da - nc - ed." The teachers tell me that the two of them are inseperable. They always sit together and play together. It's adorable. I wish I could just spend my days watching him interact with his friends and teachers at school.

He often, randomly, says, "I just love you so much, mom." He really is a sweet boy.

At 3 1/2, he is so energetic, interesting, caring, daring, helpful, loving, and everything good and sweet. He keeps us on our toes. Although he hasn't technically lost a tooth, he did enough damage to one to kill it. He broke his collar bone. He CONSTANTLY has bruises all over his legs. He falls almost every day. I am praying that the next six months....on our way to 4...brings more balance, carefulness and coordination :)

I say this at EVERY age, but this is my FAVORITE. Being Logan's parents just gets better and better. We love you very much, sweet boy!!!

Spring Fun

It's raining here today, but the weather this week has been so nice. We've had a lot of time to get outside and play! Grandpa was trying to teach Logan how to golf, but Logan was more interested in throwing the ball.

Logan LOVES to climb up the steps to the slide. And then climb back down. He only went down the slide once. He's taking it slow.

He loved to push no-one on the swing.

And then he invented his own game of skee-ball with the slide and golf ball. Just so you know, when those balls are coming down the slide really fast and it hits you on the ankle, it hurts.

We are feeling very, very blessed that the weather is this beautiful so early. We find ourselves outside almost all evening, taking a walk (or two!) almost every evening, as well. I could get used to weather like this! Who am I kidding? I already AM used to weather like this! It's funny because today, I'm all "why does it have to be rainy?" Forgetting that it could be snowing. Weird March. Weird Indiana weather!

When I Look at This Boy

When I look at this boy, I simply cannot believe that he is ours. He loves us. He's absolutely adorable. He'll stop several times a day to say, "Mom, I like you," or "Mom, I love you." Tonight, Zeb stopped after work and bought Logan a Buzz Lightyear toy he had been wanting. Logan was playing with it in the living room. He was laying on his stomach, hands propping up his chin. He said, "This is the best toy ever. You're the best dad." Witnessing something like that -- well, I can't even describe it. Melts my heart into one big puddley (is that a word?) mess.

He's almost three and a half. There's no baby left in him. Well, a little bit. He threw an embarrassing tantrum at Walmart today....but almost no baby left in him. And somehow, even 3 1/2 years later, I'm in awe of how God brought us together. He did not grown in my belly. He does not share our DNA. But I am convinced that there is no way possible that I could love him anymore. We never, ever, EVER stop being grateful or rejoicing in the God-guided way that we became a family. We are so blessed.

Saturday!

Soccer is over, so we have been enjoying a slow Saturday morning. We first set up a picnic outside for Logan to eat his peanut butter toast and drink strawberr milk. In the picture below, he's dumping out his milk. It looks like it's on purpose, but I promise you it's not. But I think it's a good picture :) What fun is peanut butter toast without licking all of the peanut butter off first? Logan eats the peanut butter and Charlie eats whatever is leftover. I love Saturdays.

And I love this little boy with his peanut butter covered face. What a sweetheart.

The weather has been wonderful this week, so we have enjoyed a lot of time playing outside. What a blessing!!!

"Can I play outside?"

I just included this picture because it's cute... So many times, I hear "Mama, can I play outside?" And usually, in weather like this, I say no. But today, I could tell he really wanted to. So, we bundled up and played outside for about 15 minutes. It's cold out, there is NO sun, but it's nice to get some fresh air.

It seems to never fail that when we take Logan outside to play in the fall/winter, he is sick within 24-48 hours. I don't know if that's been a coincidence or not. Keeping my fingers crossed.

He just loves being outside. I do, too, when it's nice out. It's not nice here.

So, about a month ago, Logan was riding his horse and fell off. He hit his lip and there was some blood and I freaked out (as usual). Anyways, he didn't need stitches or anything and everything seemed to heal up fine.
A couple weeks after that happened, I noticed some discoloration in his front tooth,so I scheduled a dentist appointment. Sure enough, the tooth is dead. (see picutre below!) -- The bruise on his forehead is actually from a different accident -- this kid gets hurt at least once a day!!! Anyways, I think what makes me most sad about the tooth is that I wasn't really ready to start letting go of baby teeth. The dentist is hoping that it won't fall out for a while, simply so that it can hold the position for his permanent tooth, which doesn't seem to be damaged. But it's just another sign that he's growing up....sooner than I'd like to think, his mouth will be void of baby teeth and just have his permanent teeth (well, assuming he can be safe enough to keep them all). Until then, I have a little boy who is rough and tough and looks the part :)
